The Global IT (GIT) Park Opening Ceremony was held in Minami Uonuma on 23rd August, 2016. Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan H.E. Prof. Ganganath Dissanayake and Indian Ambassador to Japan H.E. Mr. Sujan R. Chinoy attended the event as distinguished guests.

The opening remarks made by the Minami Uonuma mayor Mr. Ichiro Iguchi said that they have developed 15 year plan to place 350 companies in Global IT park to make it Japan’s IT Hub. He also added that the city has already applied to the central government of Japan to make Minami Uonuma  a Special Economic Zone.

H.E. Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan mentioned Sri Lanka IT industry is famous for the quality of services and this initiative provides a valuable opportunity for Sri Lankan IT companies to showcase their expertise to Japanese counterparts. H.E. Indian Ambassador to Japan remarked  that Japan is the world’s second largest IT market but Indian IT companies have always found it difficult to enter Japan. Global IT Park creates a gateway to for foreign IT companies to enter into Japan, he further added.

Deputy Governor of Niigata prefecture Mr. Morio Takai, in his ceremonial address assured the support of Niigata prefectural government through the Niigata Industry Creation Organization (NICO). Vice Chairman of International University of Japan Mr. Masakatsu Mori highlighted the timely value of Global IT Park for Japan to attract global IT talents and foreign know-how. President of Adam Innovations Co., Ltd Mr. Kaushal Waulagala commented that Japanese SMEs have very good technological capabilities  that are not open to the world, GIT Park provides a platform for Japanese and foreign companies to work collaboratively to create new IT solutions to Japanese and global markets.
